The stakes were high in an electrical upgrade project that affected at least 80 per cent of a major New Zealand metropolitan water supply.
Over a two year period, Ergo replaced a water treatment plant’s main switchboard, upgraded its water pumps and replaced standby generators at two plants.
Shutting down the plants was not an option, so the project focused on minimising all potential risks associated with the migration process.
A problem at one plant could have had a knock-on effect, creating load and stress problems at others, thus most of the city’s water supply could potentially have been at stake.
Thorough planning and risk assessment by the full project team ensured the project went without a hitch. Such a good result required excellent communication by all involved, ensuring that everyone had an excellent working relationship throughout the project.
In November 2011 the IPENZ Standards & Accreditation Board accepted Ergo's application as a Professional Development Partner (PDP). There are currently only 35 other companies which hold this accreditation.
