Liam moved to the Power Systems department as a Senior Designer in September 2011. The move was a natural progression, allowing him to take on engineering challenges and further his design expertise. His project has been the detailed design of a thirty-eight bay 33kV Switchboard.

Liam is expected to complete AUT's Diploma in Electrical Engineering at the end of 2011.

Prior to moving to Power Systems, Liam was a senior CAD designer for Ergo. He showed a particular aptitude for 3D design, excelling in 3D cable basement layouts and 3D outdoor switchyard drawings. He is an expert at panel design and producing electrical drawings to IEC60617/ASNZ4383 standard. He has worked on detailed design for hydro-station control upgrades, and assisted with maintaining Ergo's computer system.

Prior to joining Ergo in 2005, Liam was in the New Zealand Army and did a tour of duty in East Timor. He has also worked as a Dive Instructor.
