As a graduate engineer, Shankaran's first task at Ergo has been to check the quality of designs for various power systems projects. Shankaran is passionate about power systems engineering. He believes his commerce degree, and the sales skills he acquired while completing his double degree, help him to see engineering in a broader context.

Shankaran graduated from The University of Auckland with a BE/Bcom midway through 2011, and joined Ergo in the November. While at University he supported himself by working part-time as a sales consultant for Bond & Bond at Wairau Park. He was fortunate to work alongside nominees for Bond & Bond's 'Retailer of the Year'. This experience impressed on Shankaran the need to be professional all of the time.
